Service Dog Programs

Who is eligible for a service dog?

U.S. military Veterans with PTSD, mobility challenges, or other service-connected disabilities that significantly impact daily living. Each application is evaluated individually to ensure the best match between Veteran and service dog.

How are the dogs trained?

Our professional trainers use positive, evidence-based methods customized to each Veteran's specific needs. Training focuses on creating a strong bond between the Veteran and their service dog.

How long is the wait time?

Wait times vary based on your specific needs and available dogs. During your initial evaluation, we'll discuss realistic timelines and next steps for getting matched with your service dog.

What happens after I get my service dog?

We provide ongoing support and follow-up care to ensure the best possible outcome for both Veteran and service dog. This includes training refreshers and access to our support network.

How do I apply for a service dog?

What documents do I need?

You'll need your DD214 (military discharge papers), a letter from your healthcare provider documenting your service-connected disability, and any other relevant medical documentation.

Is there a cost for the service dog?

Thanks to our generous donors and supporters, we provide service dogs to Veterans at no cost. However, Veterans are responsible for their dog's ongoing care and maintenance.

Can I choose my service dog?

Our professional trainers match Veterans with dogs based on temperament, needs, and compatibility. This ensures the best possible partnership between Veteran and service dog.

Support & Donations

Are donations tax-deductible?

All American K9 for Vets is a Florida non-profit corporation and has applied for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS. While our application is pending, contributions may be tax-deductible if and when 501(c)(3) status is granted, retroactive to our date of formation.

How can I support your mission?

Can I sponsor a service dog?

Yes! Our higher-tier members and donors can sponsor service dogs in training. You'll receive updates on your sponsored dog's progress and may have naming opportunities.

Do you accept in-kind donations?

We welcome donations of dog food, training equipment, veterinary services, and other supplies. Please contact us to discuss your in-kind donation ideas.
